In high school I worked afterschool and on weekends to help my family out. My father was unable to work because of a permanent back injury incurred years prior, and it was up to my Mom and I to bring money in.

The time to apply for college came and went without a mention of it in my house. I think it was understood that it was out of our financial reach and I conceded gracefully to my situation. My family was the most important thing to me and I did not feel anger at having to support them at a young age.

Now with my younger brothers also helping out I have been thinking about returning to school and getting myself some valuable skills. I signed up for Phlebotomy Training because it sounded so interesting. I liked how the program was not strictly biology courses but as well psychology and sociology to help you best interact with your patients.

I am looking forward to starting my new career soon!
